Capitalismo & Sistema-Mundo: Teoria e Método (CSM)

 

O núcleo de estudos Capitalismo & Sistema-Mundo: Teoria e Método (CSM) integra o Laboratório de Estudos Sobre o Brasil e o Sistema Mundial (LabMundi/USP) e compartilha dos interesses deste quanto a compreender o capitalismo enquanto sistema histórico, dentro do qual interagem os múltiplos estratos de tempo da modernidade. A partir de uma leitura sistemática de obras de referência, o núcleo pretende atingir quatro objetivos principais: (1) desvendar os elementos materiais e mentais que fundamentam o capitalismo, sobretudo no longo século XIX; (2) debater a relevância do conceito de “temporalidade” na interpretação das manifestações globais e locais daqueles elementos; (3) mapear os debates historiográficos em torno do conceito de “capitalismo”; (4) avaliar a aplicabilidade destes conceitos na realidade histórica luso-brasileira.
